Derailed Again: Finding Light in Botched Plans

Starting out 2022 with COVID certainly wasn’t on my list of goals. Neither was having to miss work and message a zillion people we’d been around who we might have infected. But, this derailment did teach me a few good things as well:

  1. My cat loves rosemary. (See her Instagram video). She has been a gift for nearly 18 years, and I am grateful.

  2. I have started learning to make coloring pages for my friends who are young at heart. (Scroll down for this week’s picture).

  3. There are still so many TV shows to watch! And in case you were concerned, Downtown Abbey and Lost episodes are just as good as the first time!

This is Benjamin’s favorite mug. Today, I drank out of it. I love the quiet water scene, probably after a good storm.

4. I love my husband and hate seeing him sick. I hated having to isolate from each other until we figured things out, as he tested positive first. Every moment with him is precious, even if we are hollering at one another from our quarantined spaces.

5. There are still kind people in the world. So many folks offered to bring us meals and groceries. (You know who you are!) Thank you.

So if your 2022 plans have been derailed, that doesn’t mean the year is over. For me, it means I have to adjust, and cry, and be humble, and look for light in the midst of unavoidable storms.

Sending you love and care, Heidi Beth

BOHEMIAN CHALLENGE: Here’s a video I made for the kids at my church, along with its companion coloring sheet “Light On a Hill” to check out. (The resolution is a bit light on the black ink, so sorry about that, but just print it out and color over it!) I’d love to see what you would create based on the idea of light from the hill.
