A Winter's Prayer
Dear Ones,
If you are like me, the winter can be a season of dreariness. Isn’t it interesting that during the coldest and darkness portion of our lives in the United States, this is when we start a new year? You’d think that springtime would be when we would mark beginnings. Instead, it is in a time of hibernation that humans enter a new year.

In contemplating this pattern of beginning during when our earth lies dormant, I wonder if rest and quiet might be some of the values to embrace. And so, I have written a prayer that comes from my own place of intermittent depression and discouragement and the frequent temptation to despair. In acknowledging the darkness, I give opportunity for the light to come in.
A Winter’s Prayer
“In this season of cold winds & dark days,
May I receive the Light.
Help me release the Light I receive.
As the earth rests from production,
May I choose a rested heart.
Help me embrace simple tasks and treasures as I rest in Your love.
In moments of dreariness,
May I find hidden beauty.
Help me share beauty with others.
When I am lonely,
May I enjoy the comfort of Your presence.
Help me offer friendship to those who are lonely too.
Whatever the state of the world around me, may I experience peace this winter’s day.”
